Linux has limited support, i.e., there is a .deb for Ubuntu but no .rpm,
and in the forums when it was requested for openSUSE the response was a
"no, insufficient resources". There is a tarball for slackware which
looks like it should work, but fails on a python error.

I could try alien, but I've had strange results with it in the past. Or
I suppose I could try installing Ubuntu on a separate partition and see
if I could get it running from there, but that is a PITA and may not
work anyway.

Suggestions?

Try informing them of openSuSE's build service then there be no excuse
of not having sufficient resources.

Thanks. But whomever posted the request on the Plex forums did refer them to
the build service. Frankly I doubt that it was even considered.

I did discover that just last week a Fedora .rpm was provided by a user. I'm
working on getting it to work, but it has problems.

I was hoping someone in openSUSE land had already traveled this path.

Does it have to be plex that you use? As I understand it, plex is originally a fork of xbmc, and xbmc development is still very much alive and well. You can get xbmc from the packman repository or, if you're so inclined, build it directly from the git source repository?
